passion for flowers started at
an early age for both of us

For Teresa, it was spending time in her Granny B’s peony field; helping to cut her grandmother’s heirloom Sarah Bernhardt peonies for the kitchen table. Years later; when Teresa purchased her
80-acre farm, Granny B’s peonies came with her. Those peonies became the stars in the first of her many flower gardens. Today, artful bloom’s peony field has over 400 plants with as many as a dozen varieties. In addition to the peony field Teresa and Karen have added both sun and shade loving gardens, specialty foliage gardens, and herbal gardens, which combined make up several acres. They are both in total agreement that, one can never have too many flowers to enjoy!

On the other hand, Karen’s youth was spent living in apartments. No chance to play in the dirt. That all changed in high school when her family moved to a small community in Northern Indiana. Karen had a yard!  Motivated by her neighbor’s garden, which was filled with flowers and vegetables, Karen planted her first flower seeds - a packet of assorted zinnias. From those seeds she had color everywhere. On a whim Karen decided to enter one of her zinnias in the county fair 4H competition. That flower earned her a blue ribbon. Motivated by her win and her new love affair with flowers she became aware that flowers are a part of her true essence.

We are immersed in flowers

Located on 120 acres of land between Bloomington and Indianapolis, Indiana,
our gardens constantly inspire us.

Our career with all things floral began with our personal gardens. We were both teaching special education with a passion for gardening. With so many flowers and so many hours we formed our first business, Dancing Dog Flowers. We became a fixture at the farmers market selling bouquets.

Soon, client requests for wedding floral design began to become more frequent.

Designing and creating for weddings allowed us an opportunity to be creative and to be a part of the joy a wedding brings. We were hooked.

We retired from the farmer’s market and morphed into ‘artful blooms’. Our passion for flowers and designing continues to give us joy; a joy we hope transcends to our clients.

Our design philosophy is simple, there are no limits to what your wedding can be.

Should a bride be lucky enough to get married in May,
there is a good possibility that their bouquet will be graced with
Granny B’s Sarah Bernhardt peonies.
